Behind the Beats: Songwriting

Many people wonder how I got into songwriting. I love poetry. I use to write poetry all the time growing up. Writing was and has always been my outlet. Then one day, I looked at one of my poems and said, “this could be a really cool song.” Never wrote a song before, but I figured I could at least give it a try and see how it goes. It didn’t take me long to write it. And I was hooked once I heard it. From that day on I just kept writing and writing. I don’t follow any particular format. I go for what feels and sounds good lyrically, and just paint a picture.
